Your results are gained by training that is so slow, gentle and carefully supervised that it is almost boring. If suitable for this program you can begin to reverse the looming disability that comes with increasingly “dodgy” knees (More about that below). This program can help if you have had knee surgery, are considering it, or simply just know that unless something changes that surgery will be in your future. It can help if you really just want to want to be able to go for walks, dance at weddings, go up stairs normally or play with your grandkids. Or just be able to reduce your pain medication.
It is the Cunningham 12 Week Knee Recovery Program.
Why am I here? This is a way to stop my dodgy knee from blocking what I want to do in my own life! I would just like to be able to walk more easily and with less pain. Then it would be easier to drop a few kilograms and reduce my outboard motor belly. And I would like to be able to dance with my daughter at her wedding next year.
After 36 years delivering physiotherapy for practically every kind of physical problem to every age group in all kinds of settings, Physiotherapist Brett Cunningham has the experience and knowledge that can deliver consistently reliable results.
The Cunningham 12 Week Knee Recovery Program is the opposite of a "quick fix" because in the case of knees, "quick" simply cannot work. If you attempt "quick" you will be heading faster to surgery and more pain relief medications.
We have become addicted to quick because it sounds more attractive than slow. The program is based on the concept that everyone is an athlete - just that some are more deconditioned than others. This just means that YOUR training program must be set for YOUR level, and must proceed ONLY at your level of growth.
For "normal" people (not professional athletes) - this generally means 2 sessions per week of FULLY SUPERVISED training where every session is carefully calibrated for slow, safe, pain-free progress. This training is not just your knees, but for the joints above and below because without this your progress is not sustainable. (more about this below). You want to progress slowly, but smoothly and not go backwards.
You will feel a major difference within 6 weeks, but you need to allow a full 12 weeks to do it properly. Your first step is to organize an evaluation session with me to ensure this program is the right one for you.
